The Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) saw a dramatic increase in demand for luxury goods. Arguably the current modern taste in collecting jade owes it roots to the collecting ideals of Ming period artists, artisans and connoisseurs. Buyers of works of art were inundated with spurious objects made to satisfy the overwhelming demand by knowledgeable serious collectors and nouveaux riches alike . This lecture will highlight examples of jades produced during and for Ming period collectors.
A Lecture by Sam Bernstein. To attend, please contact: Ms. Kelly Albrink at sbernsteinjade@aol.com or at 415-421-3434
